FINTRAC imposed a $399,712.50 administrative monetary penalty on the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation after a compliance examination found that it failed to submit three suspicious transaction reports despite multiple money laundering and terrorist financing indicators. The unreported activity included players sharing common identifiers or credit cards, accounts linked to seemingly unrelated parties, adverse media connecting players or related parties to criminal activity, suspected false or altered identification, excessive prepaid-card deposits and chargebacks suggesting unauthorized use. FINTRAC classified the violation as Very Serious. The penalty has been paid in full and the case is closed.
