Canada has imposed additional sanctions on five Iranian individuals under the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations for activities the government says have undermined international peace, security, and stability and contributed to threats to navigation rights in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The newly listed individuals include senior IRGC and military officials, a parliamentarian, and a representative of Iran’s oil, gas and petrochemical exporters. The measures impose dealings prohibitions, effectively freezing assets they may hold in Canada, and render the individuals inadmissible to Canada. With the latest measures, Canada has now sanctioned 232 Iranian individuals and 260 entities under its Iran-related sanctions framework.
